Summer in Toscane (a la Van Gogh)

This week, as a pilot project I have selected my favorite one ear painter Vincent Van Gogh.
He is not only my favorite painter but also a great artist who started or developed new concepts in painting. His "rough brush stroke" style made his paintings very recognizable and sort of "easy" to follow.

This week, as a pilot project I have selected my favorite one ear painter Vincent Van Gogh.
He is not only my favorite painter but also a great artist who started or developed new concepts in painting. His "rough brush stroke" style made his paintings very recognizable and sort of "easy" to follow.

The most impressive Van Gogh paintings belong to the "France" period whe he was hanging out with other impressionist in the sunny valleys of France. Those painting are full of dreams, life and sun. Looking at them you would never think they had be drawn by a man standing on the edge. Nevertheless he did.

[For those who never painted] the process of making a painting looks approximately like this:
1. A painter has a desire, an extra energy inside him trying to get out
2. An idea comes into the mind of an artist
3. Sketches are being drawn on all surfaces, some take not more than a couple of minutes, until the subject and composition start to take shape.
4. Finally when the idea the visualized, a painter selects what kind of materials should be used and then starts to draw. The process can take from 8 hours up to several days or even weeks depending on the complexity of the painting

Following Van Gogh paintings analysis and style extraction Alexandra have drawn several sketches, the final ones look like the one:

A canvas 30x30 cm and oil paints were selected and taken out of shelve. And then it started.

First the sun appeared:

It was followed by skies, earth, trees and grasses:

Then a white rabbit appeared, first from the distance:

His face got closer and closer getting details and features:

And only then the picture was ready. We called it - Summer in Toscane, probably because those tall cypresses remind us of Italy. The rabbit has both ears - well, look for it.

Hope you liked it - and see you next week!
